Adding Group Columns from the Data Model Tab

Follow the steps below to add group columns (from the Data Model tab) to the report:

  1. Select the Data Model tab on the Design Panel located on the right side of the window.
  2. Left click the Data Model folder, and then click the appropriate sub folder, such as Fields, to expand it.
  3. Drag and drop the desired object from the expanded folder to the Group(s) section of the Designer canvas.
    Result: The object now displays in the Group(s) section in its own row.

  1. Click the object just placed in the Group(s) section of the canvas.
    Result: The Properties dialog for the object is displayed in the Design panel located on the right side of the window.

The following table provides descriptions for the Group Header property settings available for reports:

Property Description Grouping

Data Member

Determines the data model used for the group value.

NOTE: All controls inside the Group section have to be from this Data Model parent or child nodes.

Group Header

Group By

Determines the field or expression used to generate the group value.

 

Choices are:

  • Parent or child nodes of the selected data member
  • Expressions can be used to define the group properties

Group Header

Visible

Determines if the Group Header will be visible or hidden.

 

Choices are:

  • Yes
  • No
  • Expressions can be used to define if the Group Header will be visible or hidden

Group Header

Group Display

Determines the value to display in the Group By Header section to the left.

 

Choices are:

  • Parent or child nodes of the selected data member
  • Expressions can be used to define the group display properties

Group Header

Sort Direction

Determines the direction in which the columns will sort.

 

Choices are:

  • Ascending
  • Descending

Group Header

Summary Type

Determines how the field selected will be summarized in the Group Header. Select Other to use an expression in the Summary column.

 

Choices are:

  • Count
  • Sum
  • Average
  • Max
  • Min
  • Other
  • None

Summary Column

If the Summary Type is set to Other, then this property determines the field or expression to generate the Summary Column in the header.

 

Choices are:

  • Parent or child nodes of the selected data member
  • Expressions can be used to define the summary column properties

Repeat on Every New Page

Determines if the group will repeat on every page of the report.

 

Choices are:

  • Yes
  • No
  • Expressions can be used to define the group will repeat on every page

Group Header

Visible

Determines if the Group Footer will be visible or hidden.

Choices are:

  • Yes
  • No
  • Expressions can be used to define the when the Group Footer will be visible

Footer Display

Determines the value to display in the Group By Footer section to the left.

 

Choices are:

  • Parent or child nodes of the selected data member
  • Expressions can be used to define the footer display properties

Group Footer

Summary Type

Determines how the field selected will be summarized in the Group Footer.

 

Choices are:

  • Count
  • Sum
  • Average
  • Max
  • Min
  • Other
